Frequently Asked Questions

What is position sizing?

Position sizing is choosing how many lots (or units) to trade so that if your stop loss is hit, you only lose the dollar amount you are willing to risk—usually a fixed percentage of your account balance.

How do you calculate lot size from risk?

You divide your risk amount (balance × risk %) by the loss per lot over your stop distance: stop loss in pips multiplied by pip value per standard lot in your account currency.

Why does the currency pair matter?

Pip value differs by pair and contract size. The same stop in pips can mean a very different cash risk per lot on EUR/USD versus USD/JPY or XAU/USD, so the calculator uses your selected pair.

Is this result a guarantee?

No. Results are educational estimates using simplified conversion assumptions. Slippage, spread, broker contract specifications, and live rates can change actual risk; always verify on your platform.
